As a first step towards implementing the Power of Information Taskforce Report, the UK Home Office have published various non-personal data sets linked to from their Home Office non-personal data page.
The information released is mostly crime related - some in PDF, and some in more reusable formats. Examples:
- crime data statistics including crime tabulation tool and (Flash Player 8 & above only) a crime mapping tool
- car immobilisers – tool for cost/benefit analysis – Excel spreadsheet, showing the number of cars in a selected local area, the number reported stolen etc as well as cost/benefit calculations
- XML feed of local authority info
The Home Office page asks that if you write about or comment on these data sets, please include the hash-tag #honpdata .
